The beach is the only place where you can lay your body at the same level as all the significant natural bodies around yourself. I took this picture laying on a beach mat with my eyes at the same level as the sand and the ocean. As my ear rested on the ground, I could hear the rumble of the earth, the gushing of the waves and the tremors they sent beneath the earth. It was incredible being at the same level as the sand and water, with the sky holding a blue blanket over us.
The rumbling of the earth was interrupted only by Vehd's rumbling trucks that dug and constructed in the vast expanse of sand available to him. He was at home in a way he is only on a beach .. sand, water, a gentle breeze, sunshine and some trucks.
After an hour or so of lounging around we took a walk. Well, Vamshi and Vehd took a walk. I was out on a hunt! Looking for rocks. I have a certain fascination for rocks, smooth ones, well-washed by water bodies. Bates beach was a true treasure trove. I picked up almost every rock for the first five minutes, then I got a little picky as my bag began to wear me down. My most precious finds today included almost completely circular, flat rocks, seen in the stacking.
On our way back from the walk, we came across a structure, made of drift wood that looked like a shelter of sorts. Initial sitting inside the structure led to climbing it and finally we were adding to it, making our contribution to the much appreciated shade it provided.
We returned home with the sweet exhaustion of being on a beach. The good-good kind of exhaustion that radiates from the pinkness of your skin and oozes out with the sand that has found its way into unknown places ...
Wow! I love this!*
