who knows about nose?

see my friend shannon inspired me into a lot of things when i was at Microsoft. at one point, she inspired me to go to africa and walk 75 miles to raise money for HIV vacccinne research. now, in england, she continues to inspire me. last year she inspired me into doing a triathlon. while i am ever amazed by all the sort of bigger things she has inspired me to do, she also inspires me in smaller ways. her quibble over buying recipe books with her husband has led me to share my most recent quibble with vamshi. all of you out there, decide, who "knows/nose" better?!

vamshi remarked this morning by saying,"oh, my nose is way better than yours". while i am no runway model with my looks, i do think i have a decent nose, one that can at least meet vamshi's head on, face-to-face, right there, you know?! remarks of the kind vamshi made don't go unnoticed in our household -- they are argued and discussed. i just don't think he has a better nose. as we both stared in the mirror this morning admiring our individual noses, our arguments got weaker and weaker.

Longing

When I feel deeply and truly realize something, I am finding myself writing poetry. I have never written a poem before. Here's my first, in moments of truly feeling and being ...

Longing

My heartbeat, it has a pace,
It is longing to see the face,
For tis' been twelve hours and some more,
Since I saw the one I adore.

The longing, it clouds the soul,
Blinds the heart like the eye,
A flood of tears drowns my lashes,
As the yearning turns to maddening sorrow.

A gentle smile, a loving kiss,
From the one will bring me joy.
But such joy is bitter sweet,
For it leaves me wanting more and more.

Seeing this, the self is pauses,
Turns a mirror unto itself,
The veil of longing lifts from the soul,
And takes with it the weakening sorrow.

I stare myself and my longing,
I see a way to love and be,
Not for longing, but for loving,
Alas I breathe a breath so free.
