We are headed to India again this winter. This time we are renting an apartment and setting up home for a month to see what it means to really live in India. It is our dream to eventually spend 2 months or so in India every winter.
Our destination this time is Pune, a city 2 hours from Mumbai. If Mumbai is the commercial capital of India and Maharashtra (the state it is in), Pune is considered the intellectual capital of Maharashtra and might even be high up on the list for the whole country. Many significant cultural developments have happened in Pune. We have chosen to live in the heart of the city, in an area inhabited by very local locals who are supposedly involved in journalism, film-making and other artistic work. This area (Deccan) also houses the many universities and colleges of Pune.
Our apartment in Pune was owned by a local artist who recently moved to Germany. It is supposed to have an artistic interior and is a couple of blocks from the largest public park in Pune.
I am hoping that the people we meet will help us make this apartment and location into a home for the four weeks we will be there.
I am excited at what this trip will reveal ...
Very cool. Didn't know you folks were headed to Pune. Reading through your blog to see how it is to live in India. Keep posting
