i am not tiny!

and, that is all there is to it. got it? you'd better. i am a little tired of being called 'tiny'. i am almost 7 months pregnant and while my entire belly is jutting out and while looking from behind one cannot really tell that i am pregnant, i don't think people can say that i don't look pregnant at all. at first it was amusing, then it got slightly annoying and now it's down right worrisome when i get such comments 2-3 times a day! out of curiosity, my mid-wife measured me and i measure just right, my weight gain is right on and the baby kicks all the time, all signs of a great healthy pregnancy. perhaps, the issue is with me and i need to let go but can i please not be called 'tiny'? i am a prego MOMMMA!

pregnancy brain

lots has been written on this topic, several people have dedicated lifetimes on researching the topic. i am experiencing it. my short term memory is shot for the most part, the long term to short term recall which wasn't too great to begin with, is also shot. but, what is really killing me is the loss of active memory for number calculations. numbers are my strength -- i can remember a phone number by hearing it once -- which thankfully i still can BUT, i cannot do simple mental math these days. 17x12 ...errr, what is it now .. wait, wait, wait, i got it, ..wait, oh, yeah, isn't it 204? that wasn't me. i have been told that this is just the start ... as i step into motherhood, my brain will only become less exact and more intuitive. somehow this seems to have been the theme of my changing life since i left microsoft but this might be a totally new turn. i guess it makes sense though ... when i see that little one crying away, i am going to have to rely on every last power of intuition and observation to figure out what i need to do to comfort it. oh, i just cannot wait, really!

kids we love

tom, a well meaning friend of ours, a parent we dearly respect and someone with a wicked sense of humor sent us these pictures as a preview of things to come! we laughed our guts out. as petrifying as some of these shots are, a little voice in my head only hopes we enjoy such moments with our little one.

i survived march

march was by far the craziest month i have gone through since the fall of 2004. we were in the hunt for a home and found one early in march, put in an offer, packed the old home, closed, moved and unpacked all in a span of 22 days. it was hectic and at times crazy but also very joyful. we finally have a home in a location we love, on Green Lake in Seattle, on a lot that has a lot of potential and more natural light than our eyes can handle. that said, it will need work over the coming years to make it into our dream home, but i feel like half the battle is already one. vamshi is restless to get going on the remodel of this already remodeled 1905 original craftsman style home. i am excited but letting myself remain focused on something more important that is to happen in june.

in the midst of all this, i cut off about 7 inches of hair. i thought i would end up with something that is way easier to manage, which it is in many ways, but i don't think it's me. thankfully, pregnancy makes my hair grow out fast.
